Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe the Holy Scriptures—inclusive of the Old and New Testaments—to be the infallible and divinely inspired Word of God, verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life for creation and mankind.

The Nature of God

We believe in one sovereign God, existing in three persons: FatherSon and Holy Spirit, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, unbounded in power and measureless in love; that God is the source of all creation and that through the immediate exercise of His power all things came into being.

The Father

We believe that God the Father is the author of all creation and eternal salvation, unconditionally loving the world and graciously giving His Son for its redemption.

The Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is eternally existent and is co-equal with God the Father; that He took on Himself the nature of man through the virgin birth so that He possesses both divine and human natures.

We believe in His sinless life and perfect obedience to the Law; in His atoning death, burial, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, high-priestly intercession, and His personal return in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son; that He was active in the creation of all things and continues to be so in providence; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and that He regenerates, sanctifies, baptizes, indwells, seals, illumines, guides, and bestows His gifts upon all believers.

Mankind

We believe that God created man in His image with complete worth and dignity; man’s worth is dependent not on accomplishments, but on God’s undying love. We believe that because of our first parents’ original sin—disobedience to God—they lost their innocence and both they and their descendants, separated from God, suffer physical and spiritual death. We believe that all human beings, with the exception of Jesus Christ, are sinners by nature and practice.

Salvation

We believe all have sinned, but all can be saved. We believe salvation comes by God’s grace through faith alone, Scripture alone, and Christ alone. We believe Jesus died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice for our sins; that all who believe in Him are justified, not by any works of man but through the Father’s love, grace and mercy and by the Son’s perfect righteousness and atoning blood. Through faith alone in Jesus Christ we receive forgiveness, righteousness, and life everlasting as a free gift. There is no other name or act under heaven by which we can be saved.

Christ’s Return

We believe and anxiously await the return of Jesus Christ to reign forever and exercise absolute authority and justice over evil. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

The Sacraments

We believe Jesus instituted Holy Baptism and Holy Communion through elements of creation. We believe God truly acts in these sacraments through our faith.

We believe the sacrament of Holy Baptism is water used according to God’s command and connected with God’s Word. It brings about forgiveness of sins, delivers from death and the devil, and gives everlasting salvation to all who believe, as the Word and promise of God declare.

We believe the sacrament of Holy Communion is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine, given to Christians to eat and drink for renewal of spiritual strength and hope, as it was instituted by Christ himself.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ. As an assembly of believers who are simultaneously sinners and saints, the Church is not called to save people but rather to plant seeds in people’s hearts and minds so that the Holy Spirit can nourish and grow their faith. The Church helps people discover the faith through the teaching of the Gospel and discipling them to become fully devoted followers of Christ. As His Body, we are called to worship Him and serve Him by living new lives which produce good works and good fruits in the purpose of the LORD. Every Christian is uniquely gifted and called by God into works of ministry and service that honor God and that benefit others.

The Great Commission

We believe in the Great Commission Jesus Christ himself commanded: to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth.
